Is a Barking Dog Keeping You Awake?

Is your neighbor’s dog keeping you up at night? This is a common problem. A lot of dog owners especially in the warmer months leave their dogs outside, chained up to the house for whatever reason they may have. May be for protection or may be because it is hot in the house. The problem with that is if the dog begins to bark, is the owner going to come right out and stop the dog from barking? Chances are no.

That leaves you with a few options, the first option would be to ignore it and hope the dog stops before sunrise, second option would be to go over to your neighbors and ask them to bring their dog in or your third option is to call the police and ask them if they could talk to your neighbors.

You could try ignoring the dog but when you have to be up early, who knows what time the dog will stop and if it does, what if the dog starts barking again. So maybe that is not the best option. You can go over to your neighbors and explain to them that the dog is too loud and it is disrupting your sleep.

They may not appreciate the early morning or late night wake up but neither do you. Finally the last option is to call the police, they may suggest you speak to them first or they may send someone out. If they come you may have to be prepared because they have to tell the neighbor it was you that called.

No matter what you may choose to do, try to be as civil as possible because you still have to live next door to them. You don’t want to make a bad situation worse. Hopefully, the next night you will get some sleep.
